Log Book: Beaufort, SC - October 13, 2003

If you have read, by any chance, my last update, you might remember me mentioning we were being a bit socially deprived. Yeah, it was one of the reoccurring phrases on this trip. We have lots of fun and this adventure is just pure joy of life, but we do miss people a lot. Point in case was to meet Jim and his wife sailing aboard Summer Slopes. We finally docked at the same place in Beaufort after passing and waving to each other for days. We were all so happy to chat that we were almost shouting one through another! I think they were somewhat amused by our lack of experience. They are not the first and certainly not the last to observe that. They have seen us dropping an anchor where normally we shouldn't but somehow we were still in one piece. It's like watching a fly getting zapped by the bug light, yet coming back for another shock. Okay, maybe it’s not the best example. We actually are NOT looking for more pain, whatever this log book leads you to believe.
In Beaufort we also did our long overdue laundry. In fact we filled up the whole sail bag with dirty clothes and then some. It took better part of the day to go through washing and drying it all. Then the dryers didn't work very well and we had to convert our sailing vessel into a "Chinese laundry boat" - no offense to my Oriental friends intended!
