The Lake Ontario Summary

August 26-31, 2003

The trip across Lake Ontario is normally a quick one - mere 15 hours or so. Not for us. No way. To begin with we really didn't know much back then. We had no cruising experience whatsoever and I was terrified about sailing at night. Johannes was never on a sailboat before. So here we are at the beginning of our big trip, hoping to get somehow to the Bahamas alive and with the boat in one piece. Oh, by the by, we don't have any charts with us. Crazy, I know. We were hoping to get some cheap second hand charts in the States. I was thinking we will be there already. Right now all we have are some waypoints of few harbours along the way that I wrote down in my journal. I am scared, because I have never done anything like this before and obviously we are not well prepared. I guess we can call that an adventure. In these few log updates you will find us creeping along the shore of the Lake Ontario. Seasickness in first days of our trip? Oh yeah, bring it on.
